Finding the right job can be tricky… but knowledge is most definitely power. The more you know about every sector, the better informed your career decision can be. Take the transport and logistics industry, for example…
Iconic transport and logistics events in history
Some of the most eye-popping moments in history have been because of the transport and logistics sector. Like the creation and construction of the London Underground, for example! It began in 1863 and took 21 years to develop the inner circles of the tube lines. This epic project that has changed our lives today was dreamed by a man called Charles Pearson, then John Fowler was left to develop the original idea.
FACT: Did you know that Victoria line tubes can reach speeds of up to 50mph because the stops are further apart? Other lines can’t exceed 30-40mph.
Space. The final frontier.
Moving on from rail, let’s go a little further afield. Space. Consider Neil Armstrong, mission commander of Apollo 11 and the first man to walk on the moon – he worked in transport and logistics, and he became a household name by doing something no-one else in the world had done, due to the transportation he used.
Okay, so not every role in transport and logistics will involve you walking on the moon, but you’ll be surprised what facts we’ve come up with that might probe you to consider this thriving industry further.
