Last week we were delighted to launch our Youth Voice Census 2022. Last week we held an in-person event at Portcullis House, Westminster followed by an online launch the next day. We had the pleasure of having eight of our Youth Ambassadors involved in both launch events, emphasising the importance of youth voice in the work that Youth Employment UK do.
Both launch events were attended by MPs, civil servants, business leaders and youth organisations. Our Youth Ambassadors presented the key findings from the census and the youth voice sessions we held across the country. It was inspiring to see them all speak so confidently about their experiences and the experiences of young people across the UK.
The Youth Ambassadors who were involved shared their experience of the launch events and how it made them feel.
“I found the event uplifting and a real boost, it was amazing to see so many people from all different age groups care about what young people had to say and want. To utilise the youth census results for creating better opportunities and a more accessible environment for young people.”
“It was a momentous day to be in Parliament addressing MPs, Business Leaders and Government Officials sharing the Youth Voice Census results prior to the new PM being announced. I spoke about the mental health emergency facing young people. As we’re still recovering from Covid-19 and with the cost of living crisis upon us, young people are getting left behind more than ever. Over 4000 young people took the time to respond to the census this year, which is incredible and now we all must consider how they can access the careers and education opportunities they deserve.”
“I really enjoyed my first ever event as a youth ambassador. I was quite nervous but the excitement took over once the event started and I was glad I was able to be part of it. Some of the statistics were shocking however I think that we can really help to make a difference and help change these statistics for the good”
“What A Day! I was inspired by the passion and commitment of LJ, the board and other youth ambassadors. The energy of the people in attendance was electric. It was great to meet like-minded people who care just as much as I do about making a change for young people! “
