Youth Employment Group Recommendations

Read the final recommendations of the Youth Employment Group on supporting young people whose employment has been impacted by the pandemic.

Youth Employment UK is one of the founding organisations behind the Youth Employment Group (YEG), a specialist voluntary group that set up in response to the  Covid Crisis understanding it would have severe consequences on youth employment. The Group which is C0-Chaired by Impetus, the Institute for Employment Studies, The Prince’s Trust and Youth Futures Foundation along with Youth Employment UK has brought together key leaders and experts around the youth employment sector to help drive the UK’s response.

The YEG now has over 150 members, many of whom have contributed to a set of youth employment recommendations that have been shared with the government and are available here.

Ministers from DWP and DfE along with civil service colleagues across government have been meeting with the YEG Group to explore these recommendations and work in partnership on the delivery of the #PlanforJobs and other key youth employment policy areas.

As we have seen from the latest employment data we know young people have been hit hardest by the economic impact of Covid-19 and it is going to take significant commitments from government along with partnership work across the sector to bring youth unemployment to pre-covid levels.
