YEUK CEO Webinar : January – A look at the year ahead

Our January webinar with Youth Employment UK CEO Laura-Jane Rawlings looks at the year ahead. A link to the YEUK CEO webinar recording has been placed at the bottom of this page.

This webinar is advisable for all members of Youth Employment UK, whether you are new to the community or have been a member for a long time you.

With a year of challenges and opportunities we highlight the landscape and show our work and focus areas for the year ahead.

The Challenges

Challenges and opportunities facing us this year:

  • Youth employment data: the true numbers and how they are reported
  • Youth unhappiness and mental health
  • Education support and the changes to grading, technical education and further education
  • Apprenticeships: the levy and it’s impacts
  • A changing political landscape including Brexit

We cover the main aims of Youth Employment UK and it’s overarching goal of reducing youth employment and supporting every young person to progress.

Key Objectives

Our key objective supporting this will be to ensure:

  • young people are better prepared of the world of work
  • government policy is geared towards the real need so of young people
  • employers are equipped to support young people and adopt the Youth Friendly Charter

Young people

We work with 16-24 year olds regardless of education, work, training etc. We cover all of our offers including Young Professional membership offer, receive ongoing information, support and opportunties as well as join Youth Employment UK as an Ambassador. The tools we offer young people are designed to better prepare them for the world of work.

Community membership

We work with a range of organisations from SME to corporate employers as well as with colleges, training providers and youth organisations. This webinar covers the networking opportunities, information sharing and best practice frameworks on offer as well as policy and guidance support including our Youth Friendly Framework. The community membership ensures that employers are better equipped to support young people and adopt youth friendly principles.

Policy

The work we do as the APPG Secretariat, surveys, white papers and relationship building across government departments – a look at how we are influencing policy to  encourage a youth friendly focus on policy coming from government.
