What’s it like to work at Surrey County Council? Campbell shares his story…
I started as a Kickstarter with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service before joining People and Change as an apprentice.
I have worked on a number of different projects since beginning my apprenticeship back in February 2022. Some of these include developing a new Leadership SharePoint site to create a one-stop-shop for training resources for our managers, The Hard To Reach/Mercury Project which focuses on making training resources available to managers that don’t have direct access to IT systems.
I’m also leading the End of Role Exit Review interviews for our young Kickstart employees which I was myself just a few months ago.
No one day is the same. I can be co-facilitating training/coaching sessions, collaborating with my direct team to come up with solutions for problems at hand or working on assignments to complete my apprenticeship. I have assisted in the running of a focus group for young people that work at surrey to find out their insights/experience of working for SCC. I am encouraged to use my initiative to create my own styles of working which I enjoy.
