Are you waiting to hear back from your chosen university?

While you wait on your confirmation from your chosen universities, we thought we offer some insight to all that jargon…

Admissions cycle

Is the name of the whole admissions to universities process, it begins every September

Conditional offer

You have to meet minimum conditions to be accepted on to that course

Unconditional offer

Well done! Even if you don’t get the results to expect you get on to the course you applied for

Firm offer

Once you receive your offer’s back this is what you do to confirm the university you want

Deferral

This is when you apply at the start of an admissions cycle for the following cycle, for instance you want to take a gap year but want everything in place before you travel or go into employment.  Or an option you can take if you change your mind about starting that cycle once you have been offered a place

Insurance offers

If you get more than one university offering you either a conditional or unconditional place, you can make a firm offer then an insurance offer. Helps you keep your options open it is wise to make the university with the lower entry pass the insurance offer just in case!

Withdrawal

You can with draw your application at any point, you really need to think this one through though, as you cannot resubmit, you will need to wait till the next admissions cycle, keep in mind you can defer if your situation changes least two admission cycles before you lose your right to defer and  you then need to accept  and enroll or fully withdraw.
