A bit about me

I have just completed my final year of sixth form. If I were to use three words to describe myself, I would choose: enthusiastic, passionate and (sometimes, just sometimes) stubborn.

What inspired me to be a Youth Employment UK Youth Ambassador?

I was inspired to join Youth Employment UK because I wanted to vocalise the concerns of young people and I wanted to contribute back to my community.

My involvement so far…

I’ve written a blog post for Youth Employment UK; I supported the Youth Employment UK Symposium back in 2020, I have been on young people’s panels and roundtables that have captured my voice and experiences, and I was also involved with the work of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities.

How volunteering as a Youth Ambassador has helped me

It has helped me in numerous ways. It has helped build my confidence and my passion to be involved in other social initiatives.

Advice I would give a young person who was unsure about volunteering

Go for it! We are a genuinely friendly and welcoming team. In addition to that, you would be contributing to shaping the future of your generation.

What do people in charge really need to know about youth employment today?

Youth employment UK is an organisation that is determined to help improve the future of young people. Not only do they provide young people with skills to help them be equipped for the world of work, but they also prioritise the mental and emotional wellbeing of young people – which is often dismissed. Consequently, companies and the government should aim to collaborate with Youth Employment UK, as they truly do have the necessities of young people today at the forefront of their organisation.
