What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice will learn something new every day, supported by a team of motivated people. As a trusted member of the team, you will gain experience developing technical and analytical skills before going out to various sites, gathering samples. You will then broaden your experience in all activities of the operational site, developing skills and achieving learning objectives so that you can support managers to produce high quality product to client spec and liaise with customers by the end of your programme. Experience will be gained in all activities from compliance with critical health and safety procedures, maintenance, concrete production, batching processes to product sampling, analysis and technical quality control Our Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) Supervisor higher apprenticeship programme is designed to develop future supervisors in a practical environment. You will be part of a group of nationwide LEADs who are all following a successful Hanson Leadership, Education and Development programme, studying together with the University of Derby while individually working at your designated Hanson site. You will gain exposure to the full cycle of the product journey and take on responsibilities at an early stage working your way through the programme towards developing your career.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
During the three year programme you will gain experience and relevant qualifications in operational aspects of our business, including health and safety, alongside learning delivered by The University of Derby. You will ‘earn and learn’ by completing a Higher Apprenticeship in mineral products technology while working on site in a day to day role. Upon completion of your higher apprenticeship Hanson will also fund and enable you to top up your studies towards a full honours degree in minerals management over an additional two year period.
