At its core is the Work Preparation training, English, and maths for those who need it, and a high-quality work experience placement.

Throughout the course, learners will complete training covering confidence building, employability skills, and an understanding of expectations and requirements within an engineering setting. Practical elements of the course will help develop skills in a range of machines such as milling cutting lathes through in centre training at the engineering centre in Walsall.
The work placement encourages learners to develop skills such as workplace expectations, presenting self during interviews, CV writing and effective communication with others, as well as a greater understanding of the tole and their suitability to this. This will be alongside maths, English, and essential digital skills training, where learners will be supported to progress within own skill set.
Work experience may cover but is not exclusive to:
- Knowledge of the organisation and the working environment
- Experience on the different types of machinery used in the role
- Knowledge of skills and experience needed
- Knowledge of training on offer
- Good insight into the role and the tasks and duties that form this
