The Youth Voice Forum provides young people an opportunity to engage in the Youth Employment Group’s (YEG) work; enabling young people to provide their views on youth employment topics and to share their challenges, barriers and opportunities.
This is a safe space for young people to feed their voice into the Youth Employment Group’s policy recommendations, which influences Ministers, civil servants, political advisors, youth employment sector practitioners and other key stakeholders.
If you are a Youth Employment Group member organisation that has young people in their network then share this amazing opportunity that gives young people a platform and a voice on things that matter and will directly affect them and their peers. Young people can register as Youth Voice Forum participants here.
When, where and how
Youth Voice Forum sessions will continue to run monthly (every second Tuesday of the month) at lunch time (12pm-1:30pm) focusing on a different area each month.
Where: Zoom (link is sent out before each session)
You can join the session to learn, to participate by sharing your voice or both
What young people have said about the previous Youth Voice Forum sessions
Young people have really enjoyed having a space to share a piece of themselves and their real life experiences and journey across the year. The impact of the pandemic that hit in March has been enormous.
Here’s what some of the Youth Voice Forum participants have to say about the sessions they attended.
“I learnt so much about mental health at work and how we all can keep up a good mental health. Also not to take anyone for granted and use all people you trust and know to talk about it. Was so insightful and inspiring. Excited for next one”
“I really enjoyed attending the Youth Voice Forum session. By creating an open, non-judgemental space where young people could share their struggles with mental health in the workplace, I realised just how often young people like myself face these challenges. I also enjoyed discussing practical actions employers could take to support young people with mental health issues in the workplace. Since the pandemic there has been a real discussion about reimagining the ways in which we work
“The interaction was incredible, I loved hearing others’ opinions.”
“The Youth Voice forum was incredibly informative and I really enjoyed it. I felt that it was a safe and open space to voice our thoughts and it was greatly taken on board. Everyone gave their suggestions on what changes they feel needs to happen and I’m glad that these conversations are happening as I believe that even if we don’t see the change happening with our generation , it will most definitely support the future generation of young people. I am looking forward to the next one already”
“The conversation that took place during the Youth Voice Forum highlighted the impact of the pandemic and sharing our experiences and anxieties about the present and near-future of employment was important as it gave us a platform to bring up solutions and contribute towards the implementation of strategies for young people.
