The opportunity
Fujitsu is a global technology leader that delivers behind the scenes technology you use every day, at leisure or during the working day. They keep the systems going that people use to manage their finances, shop in-store or online, consume energy or use government services. They employ over 7,000 people in the UK and are now looking for 4 Test Degree Apprentices to join their Test and Validation role stream.
Apprentices will be encouraged to grow and succeed in testing and will have the opportunity to explore different career options within the Test Team. It’s all about leading the way as Fujitsu continues to develop its Agile and DevOps strategies to meet customer demands and remain relevant. You will be proactive in helping to drive change and have the opportunity to shape the future of Fujitsu’s Testing Services.
Apprentices will earn whilst studying towards a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University(if Manchester based). Study will be undertaken one day a week (20% of time) with the rest of the time spent on the job. More information about the course can be found via the previous link.
Apprentices will receive all the training, networking and support they need to get their careers at Fujitsu off to a flying start. They will receive mentoring from colleagues in the Test and Validation Team, and will also be part of Fujitsu’s 24 month modular development program. This covers key skills like self-awareness, leadership, business awareness and business knowledge. It also allows apprentices to network with other junior colleagues across Europe.
Key responsibilities
- Be trained in and develop their technical skills, both testing and coding, as as part of a cross-functional team
- Work closely with customers to understand their needs and as part of development squads deliver a high quality product or service
- Be encouraged to work their way to become a fundamental part of a self-organising team
- Develop skills in automated testing, performance testing, Continuous Integration/Development (CI/CD), Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavioural Driven Development (BDD) and the tools that drive them
- Execute text cases and record results in accordance with established plans
- Produce clear, precise and unambiguous test documents
Entry requirements
Successful candidates must:
- have an interest in IT
- be able to evidence an existing or predicted GCSE 4/C or above in Maths and English
- be able to evidence an existing or predicted Level 3 qualification(s) equivalent to 112 UCAS Points (3 A Levels Grade BBC OR BTEC DMM)
- Note that if candidates do not have the traditional qualifications listed above, but have prior learning and skills developed from the workplace, these will be considered on a case by case basis.
- have a right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years

Details
Location: Manchester, M40 5DP
Type: Hybrid -office based 1-2 days per week. When first starting in the role successful candidates may need to be in the office a bit more often to receive support and build relationships. However, they will then be able to join the majority of employees who can choose to work from home unless there is a specific reason to be in the office.
Salary: £20,000
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (generally 9am -5:30pm Mon-Fri but flexibility can be discussed at interview.
Duration: 4 year contract, anticipated to start Sep 2023
Progression: Potential for permanent role based on performance and successful completion of qualification.
All candidates will be asked to undertake a virtual strengths-based assessment and a video interview before potentially being invited to attend a virtual assessment centre. If a lack of tech is a barrier for candidates the employer can consider face to face assessments instead.
