Bookmark the date! National Skills Day will be held on the 9th February 2022 during National Apprenticeship Week.
National Apprenticeship Week highlights the exceptional work being done by employers, education providers and apprentices across England; and 2022 is the 15th year that the annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships will have been held.
National Skills Day is a great chance for everyone to show their talents – wherever they are – to inspire more young people to develop expert skills through technical education.
So how can teachers support the skills development of talented young people to celebrate National Skills Day?
Sign young people up to the FREE Young Professional programme
Sign up students and learners to the FREE Young Professional online training programme. This will help them explore their strengths, needs and future goals to ensure they feel more confident about how to get to where they want to be. There are 2 Young Professional programmes available:
- The Preparing For Your Future programme is best suited for 14-16 year olds who are exploring their future options
- The Journey To Work programme is best suited to 17-19 year olds who are closer to the world of work.
The courses will take them through the core skills they need by exploring why specific skills are useful, how to use and showcase them, and by providing activities and methods to start building confidence in their abilities.

Our FREE online courses will help students and learners to recognise their strengths and areas for improvement and develop their personal and career-ready confidence.
Aside from the Young Professional programme, students and learners can find a work experience online course to build their skills and CV. By watching informative videos and completing a digital workbook to digest what they have learnt, students can explore how the world of work interests them and what skills they will need for the future.
