Youth Employment UK Youth Ambassadors held a webinar for employers on 3rd July as part of a collective series, named ‘Careers Guidance Reversed’, put together by members of four organisations within the employment space – Youth Employment UK, Careers and Enterprise Company, Youth Futures Foundation, and EY Foundation.
Our Youth Ambassadors created, designed and presented a webinar on ‘Supporting and Retaining Neurodivergent Employees’. The aims of the session were:
- To understand how to implement inclusive recruitment practices.
- To understand potential challenges or barriers in the workplace for those who are neurodivergent.
- To understand how to support and retain employees who are neurodivergent.
This was an entirely youth-led event, delivered by young people who want to see employers provide high-quality support to their employees.
They shared research, challenges, experiences and recommendations to employers to ensure they are supporting their candidates and employees who are neurodivergent. They also included a Q&A section with a guest speaker, Nicole Curtin from Ambitious about Autism, who shared excellent insight, knowledge, and practical recommendations to employers, and how best they can support and retain neurodivergent employees.
