SEND support in the West Midlands
Looking for education, training courses, or employment opportunities? If you have a special educational need or disability, you can get extra support that will help you reach your full potential.
Below is a list of the local support available to you across the West Midlands.
College and SEND
Your local college can provide advice and guidance about SEND support for students. To find out your nearest college and for more information visit Colleges West Midlands.
Some colleges provide supported internship programmes for students with an Education, Health and Care Plan. Participating in a supported internship programme means you will spend most of your time on a work placement with an employer whilst being supported by a job coach. You will continue to go to college when not on your placement to complete work-related qualifications.
If you are leaving college with an Education, Health and Care Plan, you may be able to apply for an apprenticeship where an exception has been made to the Level 2 Maths and English requirements. This is only possible on certain apprenticeships, so contact the Think Sandwell Specialist Employment Team for more information.
For more information on supported internships, contact your local college.
Employment and SEND
The Government’s Disability Confident scheme works with employers to help their organisations become more disability confident. If you visit the website, you can see employers which have taken part in the scheme.
