The Stonewall Young Futures digital platform helps your LGBTQ+ young students take their next steps into education, training or work… with confidence.
Youth workers, teachers and careers advisers are invited to add Stonewall Young Futures to their inclusive CEIAG resources. Young Futures is a new online platform supporting LGBTQ+ students and young people to take the next step into education, training or work. Share this with your learners and help them to boost their confidence and get inspired.
Stonewall Young Futures is supported by an advisory group of leading organisations with experience and expertise in education, training, skills, apprenticeships, careers advice, and youth work. Members of the advisory group meet regularly, sharing knowledge and strategic guidance to ensure the best outcomes for LGBTQ+ young people.
About Stonewall Young Futures
Young Futures is a careers confidence hub for all young lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) students, learners and young people thinking about their next steps. It has been made with LGBTQ+ young people, for LGBTQ+ young people.
We’ve been supporting Stonewall to create a new online platform helping LGBTQ+ students and school and college/university leavers aged 16-24 to take the next step. Your students may know what they want to do with their future, or may feel like they have no idea yet. Regardless of their stage in life, they can explore and get inspired at Stonewall Young Futures.
What does Stonewall Young Futures offer your LGBTQ+ students?
Steered by #OwnVoices, Stonewall have put together resources to help your LGBTQ+ students explore options, find inspiration, and get support. Learners can find info on education, work, training, skills, careers, and apprenticeships. Your students can also explore additional support relating to mental health, community youth groups, and overcoming a range of barriers to confidence and education, training, or employment.
Created in collaboration with LGBTQ+ young people, Young Futures offers signposting and advice on important topics that may affect your students, including:
- education and training
- recognising and building skills
- work and careers
- mental health
- self-advocacy
- homelessness
Stonewall Young Futures aims to increase confidence and help ensure that your LGBTQ+ students feel free to be themselves.
Stonewall Young FuturesMore about Stonewall Young Futures
This platform was developed in response to Stonewall’s Shut Out report which highlighted the significant challenges faced by many LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-24 at home, school, college, university and work. These challenges can profoundly impact students’ mental health and confidence when it comes to education, training, work – and living life their way.
