The Pythian Club aims to better the lives of young people through positive initiatives. The Pythian Club C.I.C provides sessions within the arts – dance and music across a range of venues throughout the city of Nottingham.
They work within socio-economically disadvantaged and deprived communities of Nottingham. They work in active partnerships with various organisations to engage with those who are seen to be disengaged and/or hard to reach. They pride themselves on their extensive background within quality service delivery by offering continued mentoring, youth support and access to lifelong learning opportunities within the organisation.
About The Role
They are looking for a highly motivated, organised individual who has an invested interest within Sports. Your role will be to support the delivery of the Sports sessions within basketball, boxing, dance, or football – to name just a few – for those children, young people and adults who attend The Pythian Club C.I.C sessions.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Deliver coaching sessions in an active and engaging way that motivates and enthuses children, young people, and adults to attend
- To provide or work with the Lead and Sports Development Officer to develop session plans in align with the club policies such as Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, that states a clear aim of that session and objectives to be achieved
- Making all necessary and reasonable adjustments to sessions to ensure these are all inclusive of the needs of those who are attending
- Demonstrate and role model good sportsmanship
- Address challenging behaviour by using diversionary methods that de-escalates such behaviour
- Attend appropriate, relevant training that is in line with Continued Professional Development
- Ensure that ALL relevant equipment is in working order. Identify if there is any equipment that needs replacing and inform the Lead and Sports Development Officer.
- Check First Aid kits are complete and where there is a need to refill inform the Lead and Sports Development Officer
- Encourage all participants to engage in healthy lifestyle choices such as providing information, advice, and guidance or signposting to appropriate services
- Maintain appropriate boundaries, uphold General Data Protection Regulations with the information that is collated at sessions, discussed in team debriefs and throughout sessions
- Be prepared to make own arrangements to attend and leave sessions
- Demonstrate time management skills
- Where necessary familiarise venue’s COVID guidelines and maintain these throughout the session
