Greater Manchester’s largest vocational training provider, The Skills Company, has become a member of Youth Employment UK (YEUK), a leading campaigning and membership organisation dedicated to tackling youth unemployment in the UK. Youth Employment UK was set up to support all of those working in the youth employment arena, and to ensure that the voice of young people is heard on the youth employment issues that affect them.
Central to YEUK’s mission is the Youth Friendly Charter, which encourages all UK organisations to support young people in their communities. The Charter represents best practice when supporting and working with young people, and organisations signing up to it commit to aspiring to its principles.
Alan Benvie, Director of Employability at the Skills Company, which is part of the Manchester Growth Company, said:
“We are delighted to become a Community Member of Youth Employment UK. They do an important job in representing the interests of young people in the field of employment issues, and campaigning to ensure that the voice of young people is taken into account by policy makers.”
“We look forward to working closely with YEUK on a range of activities and initiatives which will raise the aspirations and improve the employment prospects of young people.”
