About the opportunity

Skill Up Somerset are offering free short courses for small-sized and medium-sized business in Somerset to train their staff so they can learn the skills necessary to move up in the organisation. This opportunity is also available for anyone working in Somerset.

This is a great opportunity for those that are in work that haven’t been in a formal learning environment and wish to develop their skills further in a new aspect of the business or at a higher level.

By completing a Springboard unit, you could:

• Progress onto Apprenticeships, Traineeships or full certificates and diploma in the same or similar topics to extend your learning.
• Learn the skills necessary to secure the next role up in your organisation
• Obtain the certification needed to prove skills you use day to day
• Gain more responsibility in your current role due to newly learnt skills
• Learn new skills which allow you to innovate, progress or streamline the work you currently do

Who is eligible?

• Be over the age of 18.
• Be in employment, including full time, part-time and self-employment, but not anybody on a 0-hour contract.
• Be working for a business based within the Somerset County Council authority area.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
