From 24th July 2023, parents of children aged 1 and 2 on Universal Credit will benefit from meeting more frequently with work coaches to prepare them for work.
Work coach appointments include exploring steps to improve your skills, identifying support needs, learning about childcare provision, and boosting your confidence.
An increase in meetings provides you with more time to think about securing a job in the future when your child is older and the steps you can take with professional support.
Parents with a 1 year old will start to have work-focused meetings with their work coach every 3 months instead of 6 months.
Parents of a 2 year old will start to have meetings with their work coach every month instead of every 3 months.
Your work coach will discuss the change in frequency with you at your next scheduled meeting.
In addition to further plans, this change aims to support over 700,000 parents who have the main responsibility of looking after their children.
