National Skills Academy for Health gets our Gold Standard!

nsa-health-logoThe National Skills Academy for Health is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Gold standard Youth Friendly Badge by Youth Employment UK.

Launched in May 2013, the badge recognises the work of companies who are investing in the development of skills and opportunities for young people.

Candace Miller, Development Director at the National Skills Academy for Health, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the Youth Friendly badge and especially to have achieved the Gold standard.

“The Youth Friendly Badge highlights our commitment to support young people who want to join the healthcare sector and to ensure new entrants receive training of the highest quality.”

Laura-Jane Rawlings, founder and CEO of Youth Employment UK CIC, said: “I am delighted that the National Skills Academy for Health applied for and was awarded the Gold Youth Friendly Badge Award.

“The academy will play an important role in the sector and has now led the way on what good youth engagement practice looks like, not only they talk the walk they walk it as well, ensuring their organisation practices what it preaches.

Youth Employment UK is currently running a campaign to make December Youth Friendly. The organisation hopes to sign up 1000 employers to the Youth Friendly badge, raising its profile and the positive steps that can be taken to tackle youth unemployment.

Laura-Jane Rawlings said: “Youth unemployment is still a huge problem in the UK and yet we have sectors with a skills shortage, the need for joined up working and support for those companies who are helping the next generation has never been greater. We hope that the academy will wear their badge with pride and support its own network to become youth friendly.”
