Amina
Age: 20
I was inspired to become a Youth Ambassador at Youth Employment UK because I wanted to raise awareness about apprenticeships and their benefits. As well as, tackling the misconceptions that surround them.
When I was at school apprenticeships were often unheard of and usually an option that was frowned upon or seen as a backup. However, now as an apprentice, I see the value it holds in terms of gaining real on-the-job experience. I want to challenge those misconceptions and help show young people that there’s not one “right way” to build your future career.
I am currently completing a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Operating Department Practice in the NHS.
I would like to work with employers and advocate for inclusive policies, such as making work and apprenticeships more accessible to young people from underrepresented communities.

Ayela
Age: 20
My name is Ayela and I’m 20. My inspiration to become a Youth Ambassador was because I wanted to empower my generation and give them the tools so they can find employment in the workforce.
I am currently at University of Sussex studying Psychology and Neuroscience.
One of the changes I would like to make is making the process easier for young people to gain employment.

Brewster
Age: 20
I’m very passionate about improving the education system so that students can get the most out of education. I want to make positive changes in the lives of others by also working with people who want positive changes in this world. I believe that this role will help me learn, discuss, and address real positive changes for the good.
I’m currently taking off a year before going to university. At University I’ll be studying Psychology and Sociology combined honours. This year off is about resting, exploring, a bit of learning, reflecting, and gaining experiences by doing different things.
I would like to be part of changes in educational changes, changes in youth attitudes to education and work, changes in how youth perceive education subjects and education structures, and changes in youth work.

Hannah
Age: 20
I was inspired to become a Youth Ambassador for Youth Employment UK after undertaking a placement year as a biomedical engineer, after finishing my A-Levels. My placement year helped me take my first step into the world of work and shape my future aspirations, though I realised it’s an opportunity that is too rarely offered by employers and not known about by young people leaving education.
I’m currently studying for a degree in Energy Engineering at the UEA, whilst having a very active involvement in a number of extracurricular activities including the DofE and dancing. I’m keen to demonstrate to employers the value of young people and the skills gained from such non-formal education, which make them valuable assets, despite a seeming lack of industry experience.

Hei
Age: 21
I am a recent Politics graduate from King’s College London, who stumbled upon Youth Employment UK after having meticulously curated my Instagram feed to display third-sector adverts. With the organisation having reminded me of a life-changing 2nd year NGO internship, I sought out a role as a Youth Ambassador in hopes of growing entry-level third-sector jobs.
I work part-time as an Admin and Marketing Assistant at the Restorative Justice International Institute (RJ4All), where I am constantly in awe of the Centre’s many dedicated interns. Eager to multiply their opportunities by employing a host of research, communication, and campaign-based skills, I seek to prove that there is a path for young people to pursue meaningful and productive work without sacrificing their ambitions or livelihood.

Husana
Age: 22
I am a Customer Journey Manager at Lloyds Banking Group. I joined Lloyds through the Business Analyst apprenticeship, before moving into my current role.
I am also an Apprenticeship Ambassador and mentor on Connectr, an online mentoring platform where I provide a range of advice and share my experiences. I also volunteer at apprenticeship fairs and participate in Q&A sessions.
After realising university wasn’t the right path for me, I felt lost and had to navigate my options alone. I know how valuable it would have been to have someone relatable to guide me during that time. Becoming a Youth Ambassador allows me to be that role model for others, expand my impact beyond Lloyds, and advocate for change on a larger scale.
I’d like to focus on improving the application process for apprenticeships and making work experience opportunities more accessible. More than anything, I want to inspire others to believe in themselves and their potential.

Kayla
Age: 19
I am Kayla and I am 19 years old. I’m currently a student at the University of Nottingham, studying Philosophy & Theology.
What inspired me most to become a Youth Ambassador at Youth Employment UK was my interest in policy initiatives that focus on benefitting young people, with a focus on intersectionality. Youth Employment mirrors everything that I stand for in terms of my values, and I’m so proud to be part of the team!

Khadija
Age: 20
I was inspired to become a Youth Ambassador because the transition from education to the professional world is underrepresented. Many young people find it challenging to navigate this shift, especially when it comes to finding apprenticeships or job opportunities. I understand how overwhelming it can be to take that first step, and I want to help others by offering guidance and support on their journey.
I am currently doing a degree apprenticeship with the NHS, in operating department practice.
Knowing how challenging the transition from education to the professional world can be, I would like to be involved in developing more accessible pathways for young people. One aspect I’m keen on improving is the access to information about different apprenticeships in sectors, such as healthcare.

Rylie
Age: 18
I am passionate about breaking down the barriers young people face when entering employment. I believe it’s vital to ensure that young people are supported and equipped with the experience, skills, and knowledge needed to make informed decisions and feel confident as they transition into the world of work.
Currently, I am a Management Trainee in the construction industry, having started my journey into construction at the age of 16.
As a Youth Ambassador, I am committed to ensuring young people receive the support they need during and after their transition into the workplace. I aim to advocate for equipping young people with the skills required to successfully start their careers, as well as promoting the diverse pathways available to them.

Saifeldeen
Age: 20
I have been living in the United Kingdom for just over four years. In that time, I have done a lot of youth-related work whether it’s engaging in activities or leading them. I have gone from Onside, to StreetGames, To the Youth Sport Trust and many more.
I’m currently a second year Salford University student studying Software Engineering. I’m also a youth worker in coaching and leading different activities ranging from simple games to in-depth workshops.
As an ambassador for Youth Employment UK, I aim to make a difference by promoting equal opportunities, boosting career support, and creating pathways for skills development. Advocating for policy changes, tackling mental health barriers, and encouraging inclusive hiring practices are key priorities for me. I use social media and online resources to reach more young people and inspire them.

Maria
Age: 24
I am passionate about driving systemic change by challenging deep-rooted inequalities that limit opportunities for marginalised young people, particularly those from working-class and minority backgrounds. Structural barriers like socio-economic inequality and institutional discrimination reinforce cycles of poverty and exclusion, making career navigation overwhelming.
Having faced these hurdles myself, I seek to dismantle oppressive structures and redefine success based on potential, not privilege. As a Youth Ambassador, I advocate for alternative pathways, champion intersectional opportunities, and amplify underrepresented voices.
I also explore the intersection of technology, storytelling, and social change through creative projects, including a digital storytelling exhibition on climate change and the immigrant experience.
At Youth Employment UK, I aim to enhance social media content, using it as a tool for advocacy, education, and empowerment to bridge gaps between young job seekers and employers.
