What are your qualifications and where are you studying?
I am currently studying for a BSc in Food Technology & Science at the University of Lincoln.
What’s an average day for an Undergraduate Food Technologist?
I’ve been working at ABP Shrewsbury for nearly a year on the Undergraduate scheme. The average day consist of requesting in new ingredients, setting up new product samples ready for customer panelling, working towards the next product launch which included nutritional and shelf life testing.
Working in new product development is a diverse environment, and I’m working alongside all departments to support product panels and launches.
What are your career aspirations and how is ABP helping you work towards your future career goals?
ABP is allowing me to work towards a degree in a subject I am passionate about alongside working. I’m developing my personal skills and knowledge alongside the apprenticeship standards presented by the University of Lincoln. I get the constant support of mentors and managers to support me to achieve my degree. In the next 3 years I will have completed my degree with aid of industry knowledge, and I would like to continue moving up positions within new product development.
