L3 Mechanical & Electrical Engineer Apprenticeship opportunity with TfL – London #CreateYourFuture

TfL have a number of different Apprenticeship opportunities available, including roles in Transport Planning, Highways and Traffic, Tech & Data and a number of engineering roles within London Underground.

To apply for TfL’s Apprenticeship roles, you must have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade A* – C or Grade 4 and above, including Maths and English Language (or equivalents) and be 18 years of age before the start date of the programme. (Please check the job description for specific schemes)

All TfL’s roles are based in London and offer a salary up to £19,815 per annum.

Rail for London Infrastructure (RfLI) part of TfL will be responsible for the tunnel environment, shafts, portals and as well as a number of stations on the central operating system of the Elizabeth Line. The central operating system runs from Paddington to Abbey Wood and includes stations such as Tottenham Court Road & Farringdon. Based at our new depot in Plumstead the role of a RFLI Mechanical & Electrical apprentice is critical in ensuring the ongoing performance and safety of our stations and assets. You will be responsible for maintenance, inspection and fault finding across our infrastructure, ensuring we are operating at peak performance in order to carry an estimated 200 million passengers per year.

What will I be doing?

As an RFLI Mechanical & Electrical apprentice, you will be working alongside our Mechanical, Electrical & Plant engineers. You will gain experience across our shafts, portals and stations, carrying out various maintenance works.

You will work with a team of qualified and licensed technicians, who will provide oversight and guidance throughout your programme, teach you the skills required for the role and most of all, share their extensive knowledge and experience. Our mechanical & electrical work can include, electrical testing & maintenance, ventilating, heating, water supply, waste (effluent discharge) and drainage.

You will develop diagnostic skills and detail knowledge of our system operating principles. Electrical safety is an important area of our work and you will also learn our safety rules & regulations, ensuring the completion all electrical systems are be safe to use.

Over the course of your apprenticeship you will gain experience across the Elizabeth Line central operating system and on occasion other areas to TfL, building your understanding of our railway. It is an exciting time to be joining RfLI and part of our new Elizabeth line.
