We are very excited to be recruiting a Content Creator Apprentice for the fantastic User Voice and Participation team here at Surrey County Council. If you’re passionate about content creating and ensuring young people have their voices heard, apply today!
We work from multiple locations including working from home, our offices are based in Leatherhead/Woking/Reigate and locations where our children and young people meet, such as youth centres across Surrey. Working hours can be 9am – 5pm some days and 12pm – 8pm on other days, dependent on our user perspective projects which sometimes require working in the evening and/or weekends.

The User Voice and Participation team work with children and young people to ensure they have their voices heard in the service that they access in Surrey. There are a variety of ways we do this, for example through participation groups, digital engagement, user perspective training and surveys.
Participation means taking part in something. In our experience, participation not only helps shape communities and services, but participation also supports children and young people build self-belief and develop amazing life skills. We empower children and young people to be involved in decision making about their lives and services that affect them. We not only listen to children and young people but work with them to affect change!
This apprenticeship role will be:
  • Creating fun and interactive content for Surrey Youth Voice, engaging with children and young people to have their voice heard
  • Working really closely with Surrey Youth Cabinet! Surrey Youth Cabinet key priorities over the next two years are:
    • Health and Wellbeing
    • Jobs, Economy, and Benefits
    • Climate Change and Environment
The User Voice and Participation Team recruit Apprentices with experience, or experience of accessing services, such as emotional wellbeing and mental health, additional needs and/or disabilities and/or social care services such as being in care. As a team, we support and nurture apprentices over two years to ensure they are ready for their next steps into employment or further education.
Please note: This apprenticeship is only available for those who will not be enrolled in another government funded programme as of 1st September 2024 and do not possess a qualification at a higher or the same level as this one in the same subject. About your Apprenticeship
We want this apprenticeship to be an opportunity for you to gain experience across a wide range of duties putting you in the best position to succeed in your apprenticeship qualification and take the first steps on your career journey! In this role, you will:
  • Build professional relationships with children and young people, creating a safe and inclusive environment for young people to have their voice heard
  • Ensure children and young people linked to Surrey have their voices heard in the services that they access and you’ll share their feedback to colleagues for positive service change
  • Support the User Voice and Participation Team by using your own unique knowledge and experience to bring about improvement for Children’s Services in Surrey
  • Create fun and engaging content for our digital engagement channels, supporting Surrey Youth Voice campaigns
  • Contribute and support user perspective projects, for example participation groups such as Youth Cabinet
We won’t be expecting you to jump in and be able to do this all from day one. You’ll first go through an induction period allowing you to get used to the office and the team. As you gain more confidence in your role, you’ll be supported to do more and more!
As your qualification comes to an end and you begin to turn your eye to the future, we have a fantastic support programme in place that will put you in the best position to take the next step on your exciting career journey.
