How did you come across the apprenticeship?
I was offered the chance to take on an apprenticeship by my employer to expand my knowledge of HR.
What new skills have you been learning on the job so far? Have you been given any responsibilities of your own?
I have learnt many new skills during my apprenticeship including critical thinking and also improving my time management skills.
Planning and being responsible for my own workload has encouraged me to plan my time better and make the most of the experience. I have been putting my learning into practice by keeping close track of important HR related information.
What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship?
I have enjoyed improving my confidence in my role and gaining new knowledge of policies and regulations.
What has given you the greatest sense of achievement?
Being able to relate my learning back into my own role and make suggestions to our Senior Leadership team has been a big achievement to me. I have helped to implement new policies and improve company processes so that they are more efficient.
Do you feel more optimistic about your future options and prospects? If so, why?
I do feel more optimistic about my future options now as becoming an apprentice has encouraged me to broaden my horizons and look at more learning opportunities in the future.
Any top tips for someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship?
My top tip for anyone considering becoming an apprentice would be go for it! It’s a great experience and a way to learn real life skills whilst improving your qualifications.
Any top tips for apprentices just starting their programme?
Make sure you plan ahead when starting your work and that you give yourself plenty of time to ensure you are submitting your best work. Review, review and then review again before submission!
Any top HR tips for new apprentices learning the ropes?
HR is such an important part of an organisation and it’s really interesting to learn about how HR can support the whole team to meet KPIs and goals. My top tip would be to really immerse yourself in the learning process and you’ll learn transferable skills that could take you anywhere!
