You’ll need to be 18+ (19+ for some programmes), and not currently in education, training, or stable employment (zero hours contracts are acceptable.) Some courses are for all Londoners, others are for specific areas of London, and occasionally some are for anyone living in England.
The courses typically run from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, so you’ll need to have good availability and show up reliably. To get the most out of your course, we recommend treating it exactly as you would treat a job.
You’ll need to apply in plenty of time and openings are now available for courses beginning in January and March 2023. Check out your options and apply now.
If you’re 17-19 and looking for flexible online learning options, you can also take the free Journey To Work courses. You’ll learn a variety of skills that will help you not just in tech, but in any career path you may take.
Learn on the Job: Become an Apprentice
An apprenticeship is a course in which you learn a role or trade through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom learning. Digital apprenticeships can last anything from one to three years, and occasionally longer.
Apprentices earn a wage and enjoy the same benefits as any other employee. When you finish your apprenticeship, you’ll have a recognised qualification that you’ll be able to use to land a job in your chosen field. Anyone over the age of 16 can become an apprentice in general, though some roles have an 18+ limit for legal and safety reasons. Always check before you apply.
The Hub works with various apprenticeship providers in the tech field in London. Roles with companies including QA and Multiverse are open now. Explore vacancies and apply now for apprenticeships beginning in 2023.
