IGD’s work experience programme includes employability skills training, interactions with professionals and project challenges, helping you gain work experience in our industry.

The food and grocery industry is growing, with jobs to suit everyone. Our fast-paced and diverse industry, has opportunities for all qualification levels, including in-demand STEM skills within Science, Technology, Engineering and Analytics.

Join the virtual work experience week to gain skills and experience to add to your CV, and expand your network, by interacting with industry professionals.

The interactive livestreams featuring guest speakers, take place throughout the week.

Everyone joins Monday and Friday morning sessions. Then, choose a Masterclass that interests you on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Participants will:

  • Hear speakers from big brands and retailers
  • Take on a project with guidance from industry insiders
  • Get personalised feedback, develop your skills and add to your CV.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM WORK EXPERIENCE?

Our weeks provide support for:

  • Young people not in education or employment and over 18 years of age
  • Students in secondary school and education leavers (school, college & university)

They take place at different times:

  • February and November 2021 – supporting young unemployed
  • May and July 2021 – supporting schools & education leavers

The next work experience week is 01-05 February 2021. If you aged 18-25 and NOT in education or employment, register now to take part.

Are you interested in work experience for your students?
If you are interested in work experience for your students, we recommend registering for IGD’s Educator Hub. We will contact all education and careers professionals registered on the hub with details for May & July when available (dates TBC).
