Supported internships
Some 6th Forms and colleges provide supported internship programmes for their students with an Education, Health and Care Plan. Participating in a supported internship programme means you will spend most of your time on a work placement with an employer whilst being supported by a job coach. You will continue to go to college when not on your placement to complete work related qualifications.

Apprenticeships
If you are leaving school or college with an Education, Health and Care Plan you may be able to apply for an apprenticeship where an exception has been made to the Level 2 Maths and English requirements. This is only possible on certain apprenticeships, so contact the Think Sandwell Specialist Employment Team for more information.

Finding a job if you have a disability or mental health condition
For support to find a job if you have a disability or mental health you can Sandwell Council’s Specialist Employment Team. This specialist team will be able to talk you through all of your options and offer support on your next steps.
Connexions Sandwell also offers careers support up to the age of 25 for those with special education needs and/or disabilities.
