Connexions Sandwell gives statutory careers guidance to young people who live or are educated in the Sandwell area. We work with young people aged from 13-19 years – up to 25 years for people with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
The service is free and impartial. Connexions Sandwell are committed to providing young people with high quality independent impartial careers advice and guidance to enable them to take up work, an apprenticeship or further learning opportunities to fulfil their potential.
We give information, advice and guidance that supports young people in making informed decisions about their future. The service is delivered by highly qualified and experienced Personal Advisers and Mentors.
We work with young people who:
- Need help in finding suitable education, training or employment
- With SEND
- Need extra support. This includes young parents, young carers, young offenders and Children in Care (CIC)
- Are elective Home Educated and attend Pupil Referral Units.
The range and depth of the support we give depends on need. It can include:
- One-to-one careers guidance – looking for traineeships, apprenticeships
- Group work – create CV’s and interview techniques
- Exploration of career ideas and options
- Advice about Labour Market Information (LMI)
- Help with learning and career plans
- Support in moving forward
