Youth-friendly organisations Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) and Remit Training have joined forces with a new form of work experience placement! Louise gave it a try and loved it…
It’s been incredibly tough for young workers during the Covid pandemic That’s why youth-friendly employer Coca-Cola Europacific Partners has joined forces with Remit Training to use Traineeships to offer three week work placements for extra career-boosting fizz.
Louise said the work placement really helped her gain confidence
Louise Newall (20) from Dartford, Kent, was planning to apply for a place on the fine art course at UCA Canterbury but after lockdown decided to try something different.
“I decided to take part in this course because I thought it would increase my chances of employment and help me gain more employable skills. I’ve realised I enjoy manual handling and cleaning on production and also learning about the process and different bits of machinery”, she says.
CCEP offers three weeks of work placement with trainees working five hours a day, five days a week. The extended work placement offers flexibility to CCEP to find the right role and right progression route for each trainee.
Prior to their work experience, all trainees complete a customer service qualification and during their work placement are supported by a Remit Training Placement Coach and have weekly reviews with their mentors.
Louise adds, “I feel like the course has really helped me gain more confidence and improve my social skills.”
“It’s a great opportunity to try something new and go outside your comfort zone. It’s a chance to meet new people and learn new skills. There’s always support on hand if you need any and just an overall nice environment to be in.”
Traineeships with valuable work experience? That’s good to hear!
Sharon Blyfield, GB Talent and Early Careers Lead, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners says, “What a traineeship offers is a good period of work experience that allows us to look at an individual and see whether they are suited to role in the industry but importantly, it offers the candidate a chance to decide whether they see themselves working in this environment.”
“Three weeks is a good amount of time to be in the workplace, it offers a proper induction into a job role for an individual and a real chance for them to immerse themselves in the environment, usually it’s just a snapshot in time,” she adds.
At the end of the placement all learners will have a guaranteed interview and feedback session and can be considered for a place on the Kickstart Scheme with CCEP.
