Careers in Racing has been named the winner of the Good Youth Employment Benchmark Experience award.

As one of three key categories in the Good Youth Employment Benchmark, a tool created by Youth Employment UK for employers to monitor and measure their youth employment strategies, the Experience award celebrates Careers in Racing’s commitment to work experience opportunities. Their efforts in supporting minoritised ethnic groups and young people with special educational needs were noted by the judges, along with numerous ways this employer is leading the way when it comes to building meaningful work experience placements.

The win for Careers in Racing highlights the standards employers should strive for as they create their early careers opportunities.

Supporting Young People to Learn and Grow

With their benchmark success, Careers in Racing has proven their deviation to offering versatile workplace visits, taster days, job shadowing and short and long-term work experience placements and volunteering opportunities.
Careers in Racing has worked hard to achieve this award, supporting over 350 young people to explore careers in their sector within the last 12 months.

The level of care goes above and beyond what is often seen as standard, as Careers in Racing offers ongoing mentoring, future job search help, support with future job applications and future job interviews.

With anxiety in young people at an all-time high, the additional support offered by Careers in Racing shows their understanding of the youth employment landscape and a pathway for how employers can help and support young people.

An Effective Approach

We know that feedback works best when it is personalised. During the awards, it was noted that Careers in Racing has committed to sharing feedback with applicants one-on-one, giving them the information needed to improve and hone their skills.

The effort put into engaging young people from minoritised ethnic groups and young people with special educational needs is having a positive impact on their early careers strategy, with more young people from these groups attending in the last 12 months.
