What you’ll be doing as part of this BT degree apprenticeship

Our apprentices do real work from day one. In this role, you’ll be joining our Technology Service Platforms team, doing a pretty critical job. You’ll be delivering network infrastructure that support our broadband products across three different internet service providers – providing vital internet services for 8 million people.

It’s a really varied job, and you’ll be covering lots of different aspects of the full end to end solution.

How’s that for a real job?

You’ll deliver solutions to maintain the health, stability and capacity of the platform, plus you’ll work on new developments such the introduction of exciting new Broadband products. It’ll mean working with lots of different experts, such as Network Architects, Designers, Platform Managers, Engineers, Programme Managers and senior stakeholders….and everyone in between. Your job will be to bring all these people together and help deliver an amazing solution.
Working as a Technical Delivery professional you’ll have a great opportunity to learn about Broadband networks and the technologies that underpin them. Our colleagues are all experts at what they do, and you’ll be able to gain huge amounts of experience from them in different areas. You’ll also learn about working to Agile delivery techniques – such as scrum and squads – and how this helps drive solutions forward.
Now you might think his jobs sounds really technical. While technology is part of the role, we’ll teach you what you need to know, so don’t worry about that. We have a host of colleagues on hand to support you. However, what’s really key is picking up vital softer skills such as motivating teams, to get the job done.

What is a degree apprenticeship?

About this apprenticeship
A degree apprenticeship is your chance to earn a salary while you study for a degree as part of your role – and you don’t have to pay a penny towards the cost of your degree.

As an Apprentice Technical Delivery professional, you’ll study for a Level 6 apprenticeship in Digital & Technology Solutions. This is an apprenticeship degree course, meaning if you complete the course successfully, you’ll receive a degree from one of our university partners.

How it works

  • The degree course runs for four years and is a work-based learning degree.
  • You’ll spend a minimum of 20% of your time learning and studying.
  • At the start of each module you’ll need to attend a module workshop, either in person or remotely, depending on the situation at that time.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to achieve (or be on course to achieve) three A-Levels with a minimum of AAB grades. You’ll also need a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C or above) including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted.
