Cycling is unique in being more than just a sport – for many cycling means adventure, rides with family, transport to get to school or work. For others it is about club membership, racing and winning on the bike. For this reason, cycling is supported in many different ways by many different people, offering an incredible number of career paths – whether on the bike, or off-the bike in a role helping develop the sport and opportunities for others, or even abroad.
In this workshop, we will look at the types of careers available in cycling, including around:
- The bike – possible careers through building, selling and repairing bikes
- Riders – career paths on the bike and those around the rider supporting them.
- British Cycling – typical careers through a National Governing Body that is there to help the sport grow.
- Events – careers around major events like the Olympic Games and World Championships
- Abroad – where could the bike take you?
We will also look at what you are doing now in school and life that may be developing skills that will help you achieve your career ambitions.
Experts from British Cycling will be on hand to answer any questions you may have on careers in cycling.
This session is also perfect for young persons interested in other sporting sectors given the vale and broad range of skills and sectors covered. We would also recommend this session for maths, business studies, English and MFL students.
