As much of the Country is in shock and the various political parties think about what next for a UK without Europe I urge everyone to stop and take a breath.
However you feel about the In/Out campaigns, and the final results, it is done now. Now we have to build a UK that has a strong and long-term economic plan, we need to identify how we can make our relationships with Countries in Europe and around the world work.
We need to extend the hands of friendships and collaboration at home and across our boarders. The world is small and for prosperity and peace we need to work together.
We need to think about what we want the UK to look like in 5, 10 and 20 years and create policy that is built on a well thought through long-term strategy.
The skills of communication, teamwork, problem solving, creative thinking and resilience have never been so required and not just by our young people
Young people are a group that often feels the greatest burden of economic instability. The impact of youth unemployment following the last recession is still being felt. We must put our differences aside and work together on solutions that serve all of our citizens but not least ensure we protect those from vulnerable groups.
Young people today may feel disenfranchised and upset that the voices were not heard, I am sorry for that. But I want to assure you that your voices have been heard and that the champions of young people such as Youth Employment UK will fight harder than ever to make sure that from this place we demand our leaders build a future for you.
