Targeting 16-24 year olds who are not in education or employment, Coach Core delivers an inclusive and impactful sports coaching apprenticeship that develops the talents of young people and provides them with a range of vital skills for sport, work and life.
Successful applicants will be offered a full time position with one employer, for between 15-18 months. Apprentices will spend one day a week working towards the Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification, with a dedicated tutor and the other young people on programme. The rest of the week will be spent with the employer organisation, and whilst roles and responsibilities will differ in each placement, example activities may include:
• Shadowing experienced coaches and supporting existing sessions and activities.
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of sessions, taking the lead with small groups as directed
• Assisting with the reporting of participant progress and development
• Supporting the wider activities of your employer, which may include administration tasks,
social media, marketing and events.
• Maintaining the health and safety of sessions/activities at all times
• Sharing knowledge and ideas with other Coach Core apprentices, to help improve coaching delivery.
