What do Bus and Coach Engineering Technicians do?

Bus and Coach Engineering Technicians carry out the inspection, repair and servicing of buses and coaches.

Total People offer two automotive apprenticeship routes:

  • Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician
  • Bus and Coach Engineering Technician

Heavy Vehicle

Heavy Vehicle Service Technicians carry out repairs and servicing to large vehicles such as trucks and trailers. As a heavy vehicle apprentice technician, you’ll be trained in all parts of heavy vehicle mechanical and electronic systems, ranging from engine and transmission systems to convenience and security systems.

As a Heavy Vehicle Service Technician, you’ll need to be able to solve problems, have excellent practical skills, good communication and be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

What qualifications will I gain? 

Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

Bus and Coach

Bus and Coach Engineering Technicians carry out the inspection, repair and servicing of buses and coaches. They’re trained in all aspects of passenger carrying vehicle technology including mechanical and electrical systems.

You’ll need to have good communication skills, have an eye for detail, be able to follow verbal and written instructions and show excellent practical skills.
