Why do an apprenticeship at the British Library?
We work hard to share our vast collection of books, newspapers, music, sound recordings, web pages and digital content with everyone, both in the UK and around the globe. We also strive to employ passionate, diverse and forward-thinking people who we can offer a challenging and stimulating work environment, a competitive salary and benefits and a huge and varied range of jobs to choose from.
As an apprentice, you’ll get the chance to help us grow. You’ll help make our workforce more diverse and be encouraged to breathe new life and ideas into our work and engage with new audiences.
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to undertake a variety of roles. An apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn and we recognise that it may be a completely new working environment for you. We don’t expect you to have previous work experience in the sector or any formal qualifications. You just need to be eager to learn and happy to adapt to new challenges.
What’s in it for you?
Put simply, a great start. Whether you’re just leaving school or changing career, you’ll be paid for doing a job for 30 hours per week and get time off to complete your studies. Your manager can help you to decide what working patterns are best for you. You’ll also have the chance to learn from our experienced staff and work with other apprentices in different areas.
As a member of staff at the British Library you receive a number of benefits and you can apply for an NUS apprenticeships card which provides you with discounts for many well-known shops and restaurants.
