We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Finance Assistant in the Department of Engineering Science.
The Department of Engineering Science delivers world-class teaching and research. It is able to do this as it’s academics, research staff and support staff work together on developing the department in a flexible and productive partnership.
You will gain first-hand experience of a variety of roles in a busy finance office and will have the opportunity to develop your skills working with each section of the finance team. This will provide a breadth of experience including; Accounts payable, Procurement, Accounts Receivable and many more.
About the apprenticeship
As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, where you will complete a Level 2 Accounts and Finance Assistant Intermediate Apprenticeship and you will gain an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2 Foundation Certificate accounting qualification. You will then have the opportunity to progress to Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship.
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Department of Engineering Science department in Oxford City Centre. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Abingdon or Witney College. During your apprenticeship, you will need to attend Abingdon OR Witney campus one day a week (term time only.
In total, it will take 32 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship including your End Point Assessment (EPA), with support from the Department, University, and College throughout. About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in Finance and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change with an interest in accounting and finance.
To complete the level 2 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed. These qualifications are completed over 7 days. To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon and Witney will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process.
There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
