APPG for Youth Employment new inquiry : The role of the family in supporting young people into employment

minister-for-apprenticeships

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Youth Employment has launched a new inquiry into The role of the family in supporting young people into employment

In this series we are exploring how the family supports young people into employment. Understanding that not all children start from the same place in life we want to understand where government and society need to bridge the gaps in the absence of family or where family resources are not equal.

Responding to the inquiry:

Alongside specialist speakers providing evidence in the meetings for this series an inquiry will be open (from 1st July – 31st October) to organisations and individuals with particular experience of supporting young people in the absence of family resources. We would like to draw on the experiences of these organisations to understand what works and what more can be done to support all young people.

If you wish to submit a response to the inquiry or put your organisation forward to give evidence at one of the meetings please visit the APPG website for details.

Attending meetings:

There will be three meetings in this series – 10th September, 22nd October and 10th December

The first meeting will be held at Tottenham Hotspur where the Tottenham Foundation will share insights of the programmes they run to support young people in their community. This session will include a tour of the grounds. We will also hear from Dr Emily Rainsford of Newcastle University who led the research on the report: The role of the family in social mobility.
