What does giving yourself space mean?
If you are arguing with a family member or partner, this might mean going to the next room for half an hour to calm down.
At work, you might decide to wait before sending a reply to that email. You could excuse yourself briefly from a meeting, or ask your manager if you can have some time to think about what they’ve said before carrying on with a difficult conversation.
Giving yourself some space gives you a clearer outlook on a situation. It also gives you time to get any intense feelings under control.
