Free financial ability training
The National Youth Agency are providing free financial ability training to apprentices and those just starting thier careers (aged 16-16)
Do you have young people starting their career/ apprentices aged 16-19 that would benefit from free financial capability training?
Money Skills Workshops
The National Youth Agency is delivering a new project funded by the Money Advice Service, My Money Now, which will provide money skills workshops over two days to apprentices and trainees across the country to support and prepare them for independent living. The project will provide support to apprentices at the point where they will be earning money in a formal way, possibly for the first time. The course will help them understand broader financial concepts such as tax and insurance and how to budget. This is a 6hour training, divided into 2 3hour sessions, ideally delivered in two different dates. The participants who will complete the training will also receive a certificate from NYA to confirm it.
The training is designed to develop the financial skills of those who are looking to leave education and begin their careers in the world of work. As you may know apprenticeships have a high drop-out rate and part of this is due to financial constraints and debt. NYA’s project aims to tackle this by helping young people to gain the skills required to budget, save and prioritise, as well as educating them in the basic financial know-how that they will need throughout the rest of their lives.
It is quick and easy to request a session – just let them know when it is convenient to come to you to deliver free of charge to one or more of your young apprentice or trainee cohorts. NYA will supply the resources and support workers, all they need from you is a venue and the young people to deliver to!
