My name is Leon Fearon. I am an ambitious 22 year old living in South London. I have a passion for ensuring young people receive the best opportunities society has to offer them. I pay close attention to current affairs and political issues impacting young people. Being so passionate about helping young people, I am always willing to get my opinion across to those in power or anyone in a position to make a significant difference. This interest resulted to me being in the eye of the public when I aired my views to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson after the London Riots in August 2011 Click here to watch video.
As a result I am able to practice my dream in making a positive difference for those I truly care about on a larger scale. This led me to wanting to start a business www.futurebest.co.uk in educating and nurturing young people, installing the knowledge I gained since my journey from secondary school to now. After helping family and friends with getting jobs and challenges they faced at work I thought of creating a Mobile app to extend my help to reach more young people. I want the app to provide education about the process of applying for a job, then provide a professional platform for young people to pitch a video where they can sell their skills, qualifications and employment history to potential employers Click here to watch proposal video.
Meeting with new people and having conversations are one of the best ways of learning and improving your business. Think about it, when you compare starting a business to another profession like an athlete, they have to constantly train to improve and become better. For a start-up company, the only way I have gotten better and improved is by having a conversation and networking, a great example of this was when I flew from St Maarten to Trinidad and sat next to a gentleman who started a conversation, I was extremely tired but engaged in the conversation.
It led to us exchanging numbers and him inviting me round his office for a chat, not knowing exactly what he did I was intrigued to learn more. When I arrived at his office we spoke in further detail where I learnt he was the Australian high commissioner who is now my mentor and life coach.
My venture is currently at the stage where I am seeking funding to take my idea from the concept to having the product.
