Diary Of A YEUK Apprentice – June Update

Rhiannon

I have now been working as the social media apprentice for Youth Employment UK (YEUK) for four weeks now and I have learnt many new skills already. Since I started I have had the chance to go to some great events such as the Plotr roadshow, our annual report drinks reception and the Aelp conference 2015.
I also got the opportunity to connect with some of our Youth Ambassadors to meet them properly at the events as well as go along to some of our important meetings with my CEO. Overall it has been a busy month but also a very rewarding one. I got to go to training at 3aaa which was great, I had the opportunity to learn the tools I need and understand social media lingo. I have enjoyed learning to network with other companies and young people.
Also at the Aelp conference 2015 I got to do a speech with my CEO – LJ about youth un/employment which was a great honour. I also got to work with some of our new young people at a workshop we did last Saturday which opened up my eyes to some of the big problems 13-15 year olds are facing at the minute.
I have had a great time exploring what other companies offer young people and the young people’s stories. It’s interesting to see where we differ and where we are similar. This helps me to see why the work we do here is so important for so many people.
I am enjoying my time at YEUK and I’m looking forward to what’s coming next. I hope to speak to you all soon!
