#YouthFriendlyMP Campaign 2014

#YouthFriendlyMP Campaign 2014

MP’s Should lead the way on Youth Friendly behaviour

We believe that all MP’s should be championing young people and youth employment in their communities especially at a time when youth unemployment levels remain stubbornly high. Our MP’s work for us, and we know for young people aged 16-24 youth unemployment is one of their biggest concerns, and rightly so. This is why YEUK is leading the campaign to call on every Member of Parliament to become Youth Friendly within their own offices and then to act as a Youth Friendly ambassador in their constituencies. On the 9th of July 2014 MP’s from across the UK will be invited to sign up to the national Youth Friendly badge at a parliamentary event being held by YEUK in partnership with the All-Parliamentary Party Group for Youth Unemployment. At the event YEUK will provide support to all MP’s to help them understand the practical steps they can take to create a youth friendly constituency.

Skills Minister & Youth Friendly Employer Matthew Hancock MP with Laura-Jane Rawlings and Ayath Ullah

Many Members of Parliament already support youth employment in some way in their constituencies, some offer work experience or support careers events and talks in schools.  The Skills Minister Matthew Hancock MP and Labours Andy Sawford MP are both Youth Friendly badge holders. Youth Employment UK CIC and the All-Parliamentary Party Group for Youth Unemployment want to see more MP’s championing this good practice and using their influence to encourage better youth engagement in their communities. We need the support of young people, employers, and educators to work with us to lobby MP’s right up until the event on the 9th of July to ensure as many MP’s sign up as possible.
