This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English, and maths for those who need it, and a high-quality work experience placement.

Traineeships help unlock your great potential and give you the work preparation training, maths, English, Digital Skills, and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job.

Are you eligible?

Are you currently not in a job? Do you have little or no work experience?

Are you aged 19 to 24 (due to funding) and qualified below a Level 4?

Sales and Profit:

  • Assist in achieving agreed sales target
  • Ensure that a standard of excellence is maintained in terms of customer service and supporter care
  • Support with implementation all directives from CEO
  • Assist the shop manager in generating additional income through implementing local incentives
  • Handling cash and card payments
  • Scheduling collections and deliveries
  • Assisting with deliveries and collections with the van driver as required

Stock management:

  • Assist in generating quality goods
  • Achieve daily processing targets to maintain shop density levels whilst complying with pricing guidelines
  • Minimise stock loss of goods by supporting with the control of administration procedures
  • Assist processing high volumes of donations
  • Follow and support the agreed procedures on stock management throughout the sales floor and stock, whilst maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Assist in identifying high value items to send to eBay

Shop Standards:

  • Help maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and display, both windows and in-store
  • Good knowledge of fashion would be beneficial, but it is not essential
  • Support with ensuring high level cleanliness are consistently maintained

Health and Safety, Security and Environmental:

  • Support the shop manager in ensuring that safeguarding processes are carried out to protect volunteers and shop staff
  • Ensure manual handling guidelines are followed
  • Comply with Strood Community Centre Health and Safety policies and instructions

People Management:

  • Maintain regular communication with the Shop Manager
  • Build and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with staff, volunteers, and external supporters
  • Be able to give feedback to Donors regarding unsaleable/prohibited items
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required
  • Be willing to work additional hours and to perform any additional duties as and when required by the business
