Whatever your interests or background, a rewarding career path will be available within ABP.   Role Definition: Reporting to the site Health, Safety and Training Manager, this role will be responsible for helping deliver and execute the sites and group’s health and safety vision. Making sure all employees are working towards the correct legal standards whilst providing direct support to the Health, Safety and Training Manager, the sites Management team, and key stakeholders.  Alongside your day job, we will also support you through completing your Level 3 Health, Safety and Environment apprenticeship programme. This is designed to give you the key knowledge to perform in this role as well as develop the necessary skills. It’s also a great opportunity to embed your new learning from day one!   Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the site in developing and executing the sites health and safety vision in line with legal, group and departmental requirements.
  • Assist in hazard identification and audits.
  • Improve safety culture through progressive focus on employee engagement.
  • Prepare and maintain records relating to health and safety matters that comply with legal and workplace requirements.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed.
  • Support the practical application of the workplace instructions and suppliers’ or manufacturers’ instructions for the safe use of equipment, materials, and products.
  • Carry out and assist in risk assessment, and to document plus support the implementation of required controls.
  • Assist in delivering health and safety training, toolbox talks, inductions or presenting data or investigation findings to the workforce or management team.
  • Undertake and/or assist with the monitoring, analysis of and reporting of health and safety performance.
  • Provide support to produce and deliver specific tailor-made training plans.
  • Actively contribute and assist in the delivery of the health and safety induction programme ensuring a positive ‘on-boarding’ experience for all new employees.

  • You will have achieved or be working towards a minimum of 5 GCSE A* - C which must include English and Math’s

  • A team player but with the ability to work alone when required.
  • Focus on attention to detail and maintaining high standards.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Excel
  • As part of the apprenticeship program, you will work towards achieving the required Health & Safety and Food Safety qualifications.
  • Must be 18 years old or over by September 2024
