6th Form
In year 11 you can choose to move on from your school to college or another 6th form who will offer a range of choices here are some things to consider.
6th form schools and colleges typically offer level 3 qualifications such as As Level, A’Level and Btech qualifications some may offer Bridging courses which are similar to Traineeships. Most schools have an online prospectus and all will have open days.
You do not need to stay on in your own school to proceed to 6th form you can choose from any of the schools and colleges in your area.
Most 6th form courses will have a requirement that you have a min GCSE entry – check out the courses you want to study and 6th form place requirements early so you know what you’re aiming for.
Its a great idea to visit as many 6th form schools and colleges in your area as you can to make sure they offer the courses you want to study and that you will get the best support for your choices.

- Is my combination relevant to the career/degree choice I want to make?
- At this 6th form what is the pass rate of students studying my choices?
- What universities have previous students gone on to?
- What support and extra-curricular choices are available?
- What work experience is in place?
- What employer links to the industry you what to progress to do they have in place?
