Youth Employment UK celebrates its 10th anniversary
A message from our CEO, Laura-Jane Rawlings
Our journey so far
They say time flies, and I couldn’t agree more as the Youth Employment UK team begins the celebrations for our 10 year anniversary.
It was November the 12th, 2012 when I first registered Youth Employment UK as a not-for-profit social enterprise, with a sole mission – to tackle youth unemployment.
I wanted to create an organisation that would put young people front and centre of its work, to build something that would help change all parts of the system – employers, policy and places.
Ten years later, that remains core to our vision. We can also look back and reflect on how we have made an impact across the UK this last decade.
What’s next?
We’ve achieved a great deal in 10 years, with lasting positive impact on the youth employment landscape.
For me though, the job does not feel done. We have a huge ambition and the biggest team in our 10 year history, ready to take on the challenge of reducing youth unemployment to that of the all-age range.
We’re doubling down to amplify all our work areas in the coming years. On paper, the youth unemployment data looks promising – but the world is not equal for all young people and no young person should be left without the help they need to fulfil their potential.
Our 5 year strategy sets out our clear and unwavering ambition and I look forward to working with you and our amazing network to achieve our mission.
10th Anniversary News and Insights
Since its creation, Youth Employment UK has influenced and supported the political agenda to ensure that youth employment remains a government priority, and that the views of young people and our Youth Friendly Employer Community are being heard.
